There are two groups of letters in the personality type code:
- The two letters in the middle (S/N and T/F) refer to your preferred mental functions. In total, there are four functions (Sensing, iNtuition, Thinking, and Feeling) that correspond to regions of the brain. You use all of them, but the letters in the middle indicate which functions you prefer using.
- The letters on the outside of the code (E/I and J/P) indicate which function is dominant in your personality. The letters also describe how you like to use that function.
What does it mean for you?
Every type has one dominant function. This affects the way that you think, and the characteristics that you develop. The other functions act in support of the dominant function, which also helps to shape your character.
You can get more detailed information for any particular type by clicking on your personaity type in the table on the right. You can also find out more about the diagram, and your personal, unique type dynamics, by completing our personality test.
